Rayner Bourton began his career as an actor in 1969 in his home town Birmingham at the Old Rep. Playing the ‘Sailor’ to Richard Chamberlain’s ‘Hamlet’. He has since worked extensively in films and television including The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Knightmare, Brookside, Eskimo Nell, Outland, London Fields and Enter the Ghost.
In the theatre, he was part of the Chichester Festival Theatre, the Glasgow Citizens Theatre, the Royal National Theatre, numerous West End shows and was, of course, the original ‘Rocky’ in The Rocky Horror Show.
He wrote the West End musical Let the Good Stones Roll, the bio-musical charting the phenomenal success of THE ROLLING STONES which was probably the first ever ‘Juke Box Musical.’ Rayner founded the tennis charity Tendis producing the special version recording We Carry On from Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of Spartacus and was also Founding Editor of the theatre magazine Applause.
Most recently Rayner has been producing touring shows and one night stands at theatres and venues around the UK.
These days Rayner concentrates mostly on voice-over work and among his many voice roles he voices The Unseen Elder in the multi-million selling computer game WITCHER. Rayner has recorded numerous audio books including the DI Barbara Forster crime thriller series by Nora Johnson and has over 80 titles on Audible and other platforms. here.
